Our Seniors Ministry plays a vital role in helping older adults continue reaching their spiritual goals. In addition, older adults can serve as teachers and mentors for the spiritual well-being of others. For older adults, spiritual growth is made available through worship, Bible study, and prayer.

In a fast-paced and changing society, older adults need opportunities to continue the life-long process of learning and growing. The church plays a vital role in helping older adults stay strong in faith. Also, the church provides support in dealing with transitions, separation from loved ones, and changes in society.

Relevant Teachings
We have developed teachings relevant to the specific needs and concerns of older adults including:  community issues, current affairs, computer and television technology, financial planning, legal issues, medical concerns, nutrition, physical and mental fitness.  All people, young and old, need each other very much. As a result of better health care, nutrition, job safety, physical fitness, and medical technology, more people are living longer than ever before. As a result, Pittsburgh Christian Fellowship is enjoying the blessing of increasing numbers of seniors.

Serving Others
Many older adults delight in serving the needs of others. Opportunities for older adults to mentor children, visit the sick and fellowship with others are available. Our Senior Group activities include:  Bible Study, Field Trips, Visitation Ministry, Telephone ministry

Psalm 92: 14 Growing in grace they shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be full of sap of spiritual vitality and rich in the verdure of trust, love, and contentment.

Answer: Rusty River Ministry to Seniors

Variety is the spice of life, and with the gifts of the Spirit there are many avenues of ministry for Palmetto State volunteers who give their time and talents to minister all over the United States through RRM Seniors.

Anyone can share as they go in the name of Jesus. Many of those who are involved in RRM Seniors are retirees who enjoy traveling in their campers or RVs. Even people with some physical disabilities can continue to witness in many ways.

In 2009, RRM Seniors will observe 30 years of service. The culmination of the yearlong celebration will be a fall rally Sept. 4-6 at Lakewood Campground near Myrtle Beach, where one of the first RRM Seniors rallies was held in 1979.

The anniversary year will kick off Jan. 5 at the RRM Seniors winter gathering at the RRM Cathedral. All interested folks are invited to attend the meeting, which begins at 11 a.m. and will feature a covered-dish meal. (Bring your favorite covered dish; the meat and beverages will be provided.)

Past RRM Senior participants are encouraged to bring copies of photos from previous mission trips. The photos and accompanying descriptions will become part of a 30th-anniversary album for permanent exhibit.

For more information, contact , who are serving, respectively, as president and secretary of RRM Seniors, at (949) 718-8150.
